Street Vendors calls for Ludhiana Bandh on January 31

Ludhiana: The street vendors have given call of Ludhiana Bandh on January 31 in protest against the action by Police during encroachment drive.

The vendors said that they met Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu who refused to redress their grievance. In Protest, they have announced to shut the Ludhiana on January 31.

The vendors said from last one week, the Police have started anti encroachment drive and registering case against street vendors and cart pullers. The Union said that they are not against the encroachment drive but the district administration should first provide vending zones to vendors and then conduct drive.

They said that the street vendors have lost their source of income and they are unable to pay school fees of their children’s. Meanwhile, the MC officials have called the street vendors for the meeting to resolve the issue.
